Coach Qualifications

Please refer to the Coach Code of Conduct in the NMHA Constitution.

Every coach must agree to this code before applying for or accepting a coaching position within NMHA.  Every coach must respect the principles of Fair Play/Equal Development. If someone doesn't agree with the Code, then we expect that person to remove him or herself from consideration for coaching positions.

TEAM STAFF CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS FOR 2020-21 
 

U7 
Head coaches – must have Intro to Coach & Respect in Sport 
Assistant coaches - must have Intro to Coach & Respect in Sport 
Manager, Trainer, Volunteer, Stick boy – must have Respect in Sport 
Hockey Canada Safety (HCSP Level 1 or HU SAFETY) – 1 registered team official must have this, (manager, coach, trainer or volunteer.)
 
U9 & U11 (all levels – male & female teams) 
Head coaches – must have Coach Level, Respect in Sport & Checking 
Assistant coaches - must have Coach Level & Respect in Sport 
Manager, Trainer, Volunteer, Stick boy – must have Respect in Sport 
Goalie Coach - must have 1 registered coach with this certification
Checking – the Head Coach must have, #8.01.01.g) 
Hockey Canada Safety (HCSP Level 1 or HU SAFETY) – all teams must have 1 registered team official with this, (manager, coach, trainer or volunteer.)
 
U13 AA TIER 1 (male & female teams) 
Head coaches - must have Development 1, Respect in Sport & Checking 
Assistant coaches - must have Coach Level & Respect in Sport. 
Manager, Trainer, Volunteer, Stick boy – must have Respect in Sport 
Goalie Coach - must have 1 registered coach with this certification
Checking – the Head Coach must have, #8.01.01.g) 
Hockey Canada Safety Program (HCSP Level 1 or HU SAFETY) – 1 of the registered team staff must have (manager, coach, trainer, volunteer)

U18 (male & female teams)

Goalie Coach - must have 1 registered coach with this certification
Checking – the Head Coach must have #8.01.01.g) 
Hockey Canada Safety (HCSP Level 1 or HU SAFETY) – 1 of the registered team staff must have (manager, coach, trainer, volunteer)
 
DECEMBER 15 – final date for any TEAM OFFICIAL to be removed from a team roster – the appropriate certifications will be required after this date. 
 
FEBRUARY 1 – final date for all team officials to have obtained appropriate certifications. Teams will be fined $50 per infraction by SHA as per regulation #8.01.01.a)
